Mind like a Sieve!

Hello all!!

How's your Saturday doing? Over in Dubai, Saturday is our Sunday (we get Friday & Saturday off), so I am now on a mad panic to get the kids school stuff ready for the last week in school!

I decided to decorate a plain black notebook that I had to keep in my handbag, as I forget everything, so I am hoping this will help me remember much more!! I have no idea why my the flowers are looking brown in the pic, they are grey!!!

Recipe: Prisma flowers and leaves, button from stash, Martha Stewart leaf & butterfly punch,
DCWV ladybird sticker, feathers from old hairband, gems from stash.

I would also like to enter this into the following challenges:

Recycling!

Gooooood Morning!!

Got no idea why I am in such a good mood..went to docs yesterday and I have the flu and tonsillitis for the second time in 2 weeks! Grrrrrr!!

Anyway, I am soooo loving making my own flowers at the moment, I have come up with another new one....made out of doilies!! Wotcha think? I had these in cupboard for ages, and they fell out of the cupboard at the weekend and I was going to bin them, but hey ho, thought I would try recycling them! I quite like it. Also getting recycled is that rope that you can see - it was on a label of a dress that I bought, wasn't gonna bin that!

Bye Bye Butterfly

Helloooo!!

How are you today? I can't believe how quickly these weeks are going - can you believe that we are mid-June already?

So, this week over at Charisma this week, our challenge for you is:

ALL ABOUT BLING!!

Yep, thats right, we wanna see some bling on your card!!

My card this week is one that I have made for my daughter and her friend to give their teacher as their leaving card. Their teacher is a right trendy lady, she is lovely. So, to try and go with 'trendy' I went with the black and white theme as I love this. I did three butterflies to symbolise the teach (silver butterfly on the flower), and the two black butterflies flying away (daughter and friend). I love the way it has turned out to be honest. It also gave me great opportunity to use these pearl wire thingies that I have had for years!! Am completely loving making my own flowers at the mo and love the way this one turned out.

Recipe: DCWV black card, feather pieces from hair piece, pearl strings from stash, silver card from stash, rub on sentiment from stash, glitter,
pearls from Hobbycraft, Martha Stewart leaf punch

I would also like to enter this card in the following challenges:

Lexis Creation #16 - Something Old
Oh La La Creations #56 - Flourishes & Pearls
Belli Challenge #93 - Rub Ons
Prairie Fairy Design #23 - Glitz & Glitter

Practical Scrappers - Glitter

Blokey Card

Morning all!

Hope you are all having a nice weekend! Its the start of the week for us over here (Sun - Thurs is working week), so DD is in school and I have to take my gorgeous little boy to have his induction into the big school later. Doesn't time fly when you have children? Only seems like yesterday that he was a baby :o(

Here is te card that I made for the kiddies to give Daddy for Fathers Day. Hubby has gone away for three weeks (sooooo dreading being on my own), so got them to sign it and I put it sneekly in his case last night!!

Not sure what is going on with my photos...they seem really dodgy at the mo - sorry about that!

Right, off to get ready for induction...! Thanks for stopping by!

Twirly Flower Tutorial!

WOW - I feel absolutely chuffed to bits with all the lovely comments that you have given me about my altered flower box - thank you so much!

For those of you who wanted to know how to make these flowers - here is a tutorial, which I hope I have kept very simple!

  1. Cut out a circle - any size you want.

  2. Cut around into the circle like you are making a snake shape - leave the centre of the circle a bit bigger as this will form the base of your flower at the end.

  3. I like to use this kind of pincher to do the next part - it keeps the end pinched nice and tight!

  4. Put the very end into the tweezers.

  5. Start to twist the card around the end of the tweezers.

  6. Keep twisting the card around the tweezers until it gets like this:

  7. Take card gently off the tweezers.

  8. By letting it unscroll will depend on how tight or loose you want your flower. You can have a play about with this. When it is the size you want, you can stick the big bit of the circle that was left over, across the bottom of the flower.

  9. This is what bottom should look like after you have stuck it down.

  10. Now you can have a play around with the sides of the flower, squish them down, ink the edges, distress it however you like!!

So, was that easy to follow? If you think it needs a better explaination, please let me know!

If you use this tutorial, I would love it if you would say in your blog that you got it from here, and I would love to see any creations you make using the flowers - make sure you leave me a comment to let me know to check our your blog!!

Thanks for stopping by!

WOYWW #52

Good Morning Peeps!!

How are you all doing? I got both my kiddies off school today, they somehow have a cold. How on earth do you get a cold in the middle of the desert when the temperature is nearly 50 degrees c?

I have missed Julia's 'Whats on your Workdesk Wednesday' for the past two weeks - I tell you, doing this every Wednesday makes you realise just how quickly the weeks are going! But this week is very special as it is a whole year that this WOYWW has been going on - such a shame I only found it in the past coulple of months!! So then, whats on my desk this week: Bit messy again to be honest, but will tidy it up later! Have been trying to get on top of all my challenge cards until September since I will be in the UK for 2 months without my stash (OMG, how long?!!!) I also picked up these earrings and necklace from Claire's accessories - they were all like 15p each so thats a bargain...just gotta think of what I want to do with them!! Any suggestions would be appreciated!!

Right, suppose I should get this posted so that I can go and nose around your desks!
Thanks for stopping by!

**** Updated*****

How pants am I - didn't realise I had to do a project to celebrate....sorry Julia!!
