Rushed Job - is it good enough?

Hi all

My old boss from Liverpool contacted me last Wednesday and asked me if I could make his mum a birthday card for yesterday, managed to do one but is there something missing? I sent it to him, but I am not 100% happy with it, feels like it is missing something. I really want to get to grips with over embellishing things as I think that looks fab, ie, with ribbon, layering etc - but everytime I try to do it, it looks silly. Hey ho, I suppose that will come with practice.

Here is the card anyway so you can see.

Hi, Leanne..

Firstly, thank you so much for all the kind comments you've been leaving on my blog, you sweetie, you! :o)

Secondly, this card is plenty! It's lovely! There is absolutely nothing wrong with simplicity, and this is entirely appropriate for a man to give his mother. To have uber-embellished it would not have been suitable for the purpose, in my opinion. This is lovely, simple, elegant. His mum will love it!
